Repair
Thank you Places editors and contributors for this timely series of essays on Repair. As a complement to these essays, I’d like direct Places readers’ attention to the inaugural issue of Change Over Time: An International Journal of Conservation and the Built Environment 1.1 Repair (2011) which addressed the issue of repair through the care of heritage and our historic built environments. Contributors to this issue approach the topic from multiple perspectives from societal and familial repair at sites of conscience; to spiritual repair through site restitution; historical repair through the disentangling of urban origin myths and maps; and the question of conserving the ideal of the new in architectural modernism; to name just a few.
Repair and care – a guiding mantra for the moment.
