Alastair Bonnett

Alastair Bonnett is Professor of Social Geography at Newcastle University.

He has written on diverse topics including forgotten and overlooked place, nostalgia and memory, the rise of racism and “whiteness,” and geographical theories of the avant-garde. His books include Unruly Places: Lost Spaces, Secret Cities, and Other Inscrutable Geographies; What is Geography; The Idea of the West;¬†and How to Argue. His latest book is Beyond the Map.
