Anna L. Georas Santos
Anna L. Georas Santos is acting dean and full professor at the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico. She has a bachelor’s degree in environmental design (1989) from the same school; a master’s in architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard (1991), and a PhD in moral philosophy from the Complutense University in Madrid (2015).
She advocates for rewilding as a paradigm shift in building trends and for the architect’s humanitarian role within society. As a practicing architect, her firm has completed commercial, industrial, and residential projects as well as participated in local and international competitions. Early in her career, she led an island-wide urban renewal program – Renace – as the director of planning of the Puerto Rico Housing Department. In 2019, her firm received an honorary mention in the Unbuilt Projects Category of the 15th Bienal de Arquitectura y Arquitectura Paisajista de Puerto Rico.
