Barbara Penner is a columnist for Places. She is Senior Lecturer in Architectural History at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL.
Penner is author of Bathroom, which was shortlisted for the RIBA President’s Awards for Outstanding University-Located Research; Newlyweds on Tour: Honeymooning in Nineteenth-Century America; and is co-editor of Gender Space Architecture. She regularly lectures in institutions across the U.K., Japan, and North America, including at Aoyama Gakuin University, Cornell University, and the Canadian Centre for Architecture. She serves as a member of the editorial boards of The Journal of Architecture and Interiors: Architecture, Design, Culture. She is also and is a regular columnist for Architectural Review, and a board member of the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain.
