Daniel Kariko
Daniel Kariko is Assistant Professor of Fine Art Photography and Photography Area coordinator at East Carolina University. His images investigate environmental and political aspects of landscape and cultural interpretation of inhabited space. His projects include work in his homeland of Serbia, recording the aftermath of the war in Balkans, as well as the Gulf Coast, documenting endangered wetlands in South Louisiana, foreclosed housing in Florida, and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. His work has been shown at Galerie im Traklhaus, Salzburg; Zizkov International Photography Festival, Prague; Gallery Ho, Seoul; Rijeka Foto Festival, Croatia; Noorderlicht Photofestival, Fries Museum, Netherlands; and Cankarev Dom, Ljubljana. He has a B.F.A. from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, and an M.F.A. from Arizona State University. From 2002 to 2010, Kariko was on faculty at Florida State University.
