Dave Tell

Dave Tell is Professor of Communication Studies at the University of Kansas. His 2019 book Remembering Emmett Till tells the complete story of Till’s commemoration in the Mississippi Delta. Written with a Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the book tells the sometimes-inspiring, more-often-heartbreaking, always-unlikely backstories of our nation’s 21st-century investment in Till’s story. Dr. Tell leads the Emmett Till Memory Project and is a consultant and grant-writer for the Emmett Till Memorial Commission.
