David T. Hanson
David T. Hanson was born and raised in Montana. He earned a B.A. in English Literature from Stanford University and an M.F.A. in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design, and he taught at RISD in the photography and landscape architecture departments from 1983-2000. His awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship and two NEA fellowships. Hanson’s photographs have been exhibited in The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and are in the permanent collections of museums throughout the world. His publications include Waste Land: Meditations on a Ravaged Landscape (Aperture, 1997), Colstrip, Montana (Taverner Press, 2010), and Wilderness to Wasteland (Taverner Press, 2016). He makes his home in Iowa.
