Federico Garcia Lammers

Federico Garcia Lammers is a Uruguayan educator and an associate professor and director of graduate studies in the School of Architecture at the University of Minnesota. His teaching and research connect expansive notions of citizenship with the labor systems that underlie architectural production. He has practiced in the offices of Pelli Clarke & Partners, CVDB Arquitectos, and Loomstudio, where he worked on multidisciplinary projects across four continents.

Federico was a founding faculty member in the department of architecture at South Dakota State University, where he helped establish the first architecture program in the state. From 2013 to 2022, as an associate professor and the South Dakota DoArch graduate program director, he led the coordination of graduate and undergraduate design studios, and co-authored the design of a new architecture curriculum. Together with Jessica Garcia Fritz, Federico is a co-director of LAB-OR, a design practice that links design pedagogy to the asymmetric relationships between architecture and construction.
