Francesca Lidia Viano

Francesca Lidia Viano is a fellow at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University.

Viano has written extensively on the history of economic and political exchanges in the Atlantic World. She has held post-doctoral fellowships at Cornell University and the University of Cambridge and written monographs on Thorstein Veblen and James Bryce. Her most recent book, Sentinel: The Unlikely Origins of the Statue of Liberty, reconstructs the political and economic history of the world’s most famous transatlantic symbol.
