John Bass is Associate Professor and Chair of the Architecture Program at the University of British Columbia School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.
John works on several contested landscapes, including the Delta National Park, a research and design project focused on the water and spatial politics of the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. The DNP speculates on a public/private alternative to the gridlocked processes of entrenched interests that currently dominate policy debate. John also works with several First Nations communities along British Columbia’s coast, producing building and urban design, essays and diagrams of historical analysis, and graphic spatial reconstructions. In Chandigarh, India, John is doing research on its contested geography, especially on the relationship between Sector and Periphery City.
