Liz Ševčenko

Liz Ševčenko directs the Guantánamo Public Memory Project from Columbia University’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights. Ševčenko was Founding Director of the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience, a network of historic sites fostering public dialogue on contemporary issues. She launched the Coalition as a Vice President at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, where she developed exhibits and educational activities connecting the stories of the neighborhood’s immigrants past and present. She has published in a variety of fields, from human rights to cultural heritage to transitional justice, with courses at NYU, Rutgers and CUNY.
