Matthew Moore
Matthew Moore is a farmer and artist based in Phoenix, Arizona.
Moore is a fourth-generation farmer whose land and life is being overcome by suburban sprawl. He creates large site-specific earthworks on and around his family’s land, which highlight the grounds on which the urban and rural collide and compete. Moore also works with video and installation art, addressing ecological, cultural, and economical issues regarding the potential loss of the American farm. His artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally. In 2008, he was awarded a Creative Capital grant, and in 2010 his work was included in the New Frontiers program of the Sundance Film Festival. Moore’s work has been published in diverse journals, including Metropolis, Architecture, Dwell, Mark Magazine , Dazed and Confused, Casa Mica and Art Lies; and it has been reviewed in Art in America and Art News.
