Paul Johansen

Paul Johansen has been a violin concerto soloist, a student and counselor at Greenwood Music Camp, a middle school math teacher, a Shakespearean actor, and a medical student at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Since receiving a Master’s degree in Biostatistics from Boston University in 1997, he has worked on clinical trials to develop a treatment for mucopolysaccharidosis (at Genzyme), on vaccines for pneumonia (at Merck), and on HIV drug development (at Tibotec). He now volunteers at a free health care clinic in western Massachusetts and supports the efforts of people living with Hansen’s Disease (a.k.a., leprosy). He is now studying criminal justice.
