Thomas Oles
Thomas Oles is senior lecturer of landscape architecture at the University of Edinburgh. He holds degrees in landscape architecture, urban and regional planning, and comparative literature, and has practiced landscape architecture in New York, San Francisco, and Amsterdam. He has also taught at the University of Oregon, Cornell University, and the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture, where from 2010 to 2012 he was Director of the Graduate Program on Living Landscape.
His research focuses on design pedagogy, the professional history of landscape architecture, landscape and representation, and collaborative landscape design and governance. He has published two books, Go With Me: 50 Steps to Landscape Thinking and Walls: Enclosure and Ethics in the Modern Landscape.
