Timothy Spears

Timothy Spears is College Professor Emeritus at Middlebury College, where he taught American Studies for more than thirty years and served in a variety of administrative roles, including Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic Affairs. His scholarship has focused on commercial culture, Chicago history and literature, and football. Spears’ most recent book, America’s National Cemeteries: A Meditation on History, Memory, and Place (2025), highlights his interest in photography and distinctive American landscapes.
