We are pleased to report that our editorial team will be expanding thanks to a generous grant from Arcadia, which has pledged $500,000 over the next five years to support new staff at Places.

For years, Places has been produced by a small but mighty team, which has enabled us to punch above our weight. With the influx of editorial talent made possible by the Arcadia grant, the Places masthead will soon be bigger than it’s ever been.

Arcadia is a “charitable foundation that works to protect nature, preserve cultural heritage, and promote open access to knowledge.” Accessible to all free of charge — no subscription, no paywall, no advertising — Places is widely acknowledged as a strong and steady facilitator of nonprofit, open-access publishing. We’re thrilled to receive valuable new support for our mission of independent public scholarship on the future of buildings, landscapes, and cities.
