We are pleased to welcome the Wellington School of Architecture – Te Kura Waihanga at Victoria University of Wellington – Te Herenga Waka into Places’ network of academic partners.

The school joins an ever-expanding network of esteemed design schools and faculties that collectively provide core funding for the journal. With institutions ranging from North America to Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa — and now Aotearoa New Zealand — the network is a diverse group that shares Places’ commitment to public scholarship on architecture, landscape, and urbanism, and to building a larger public constituency for serious design writing.

“Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is pleased and proud to join the network of academic partners that support the fabulous work of Places Journal,” said Rod Barnett, head of the school of architecture. “Our school, located on a rising harbor, in the center of a city built on stolen land, is eager to join with our partners and with Places in their determination to bring the best research and scholarship on the natural and built environment into the public realm.”

Robyn Phipps, dean of the Wellington Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation – Te Wāhanga Waihanga-Hoahoa, will represent the school on Places’ board of directors.
