The Inequality Chronicles

“There are many reasons for our troubles,” wrote historian Jill Lepore in the aftermath of the 2016 presidential election. “But the deepest reason is inequality: the forms of political, cultural, and economic polarization that have been widening, not narrowing, for decades. Inequality, like slavery, is a chain that binds at both ends.”

“The Inequality Chronicles” features detailed explorations of racial, economic, and social inequities — from historical roots to contemporary effects — in major American cities.

The series is made possible by a grant from The Kresge Foundation.
