Max Liboiron

Dr. Max Liboiron is professor of geography at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, where they direct the Civic Laboratory for Environmental Action Research, or CLEAR, which is known for its blend of feminist, anti-colonial, and community-led science.

Their work reorients contaminant monitoring by foregrounding the political nature of research methods, from data collection to quantitative analysis. They are also Co-Director of the IndigeLab Network, a collective of research leaders who create space for Indigenous ways of knowing, doing, and being within the academy. Liboiron is the award-winning author of Pollution is Colonialism (Duke University Press, 2021) and co-author of Discard Studies: Wasting, Systems, and Power (MIT Press, 2022).
