Elgin Cleckley
Elgin Cleckley is an associate professor of architecture and the undergraduate program director at the University of Virginia. Elgin has over thirty years of academic, community, and global professional design experience. He is the director of _mpathic design, an multi award winning initiative, pedagogy, and design practice, with current collaborations with the Charles Wright African American Museum, Van Cortlandt Park Alliance / Design Trust for Public Space, Rodney Leon Architects (NYC), a new public space with Piedmont Housing Alliance (Charlottesville), and community design with Friends of the Underline (Miami). Cleckley is the editor of Empathic Design: Perspectives on Creating Inclusive Spaces.
