Ayham Dalal

Ayham Dalal is a lecturer in architecture and urban design at the German University in Cairo. He joined the master planning team for Homs shortly before the conflict in Syria began. His work focuses on displacement, urbanization, and planning through a rights-based approach, participatory design, and experimental mapping. He is the author of From Shelters to Dwellings: The Zaatari Refugee Camp (2022) and co-editor of two books on camps. A recipient of the DAAD Leadership for Syria scholarship, Dalal has held fellowships at TU Berlin, CNRS, and the University of Oxford. His current research explores how forced migration is reshaping urban spaces in Cairo.
