Jeff Oliver

Jeff Oliver is reader in archaeology at the University of Aberdeen. Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, he has lived and worked for more than 20 years in the United Kingdom. He writes on material histories of colonization, and the cultural and environmental practices of settlers in both western Canada and Scotland. He is the author of Landscapes and Social Transformations on the Northwest Coast (2010; paperback 2022, and open access e-book 2023) and co-editor of three volumes — Wild Signs: Graffiti in Archaeology and History (with Tim Neal, 2010), Historical Archaeologies of Cognition (with James Symonds and Anna Badcock, 2013), and a special issue of Historical Archaeology, “Contemporary and Historical Archaeology of the North” (with Neil Curtis, 2015).
