On the Brinck | Places Prize

In the early 1980s, in Tucson, activists and religious leaders joined forces to protect refugees at the U.S.-Mexico border. Their collaboration galvanized the Sanctuary Movement.

We are pleased to announce that proposals are now being accepted for the latest round of the On the Brinck | Places Prize. Applications due July 17, 2026.

Tracey’s project will focus on the Sanctuary Movement, and the entangled histories of immigration, colonization, and religion along the U.S./Mexico borderlands.

Proposals are being accepted for the inaugural On the Brinck | Places Prize, a collaboration between Places and the School of Architecture + Planning at University of New Mexico.
