Places Editors

Nancy Levinson is the Editor and Executive Director of Places. She brings to the role experience in design and practice, most recently as director of the Phoenix Urban Research Laboratory and professor of practice at The Design School at Arizona State University, and as co-founding editor of Harvard Design Magazine at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Frances Richard is a Senior Editor of Places. She is the author of three books of poems: Anarch., The Phonemes, and See Through; and co-author, with Jeffrey Kastner and Sina Najafi, of Odd Lots: Revisiting Gordon Matta-Clark’s “Fake Estates.” Her latest book is Gordon Matta-Clark: Physical Poetics. Frances has been a member of the editorial teams at Fence and Cabinet, and a visiting scholar at the Canadian Centre for Architecture.

Josh Wallaert is a Senior Editor of Places. His fiction has appeared in TriQuarterlySouthern ReviewBlack Warrior Review, and Gettysburg Review, and he is co-director of Arid Lands, a documentary film on the landscape of the Hanford nuclear site (Bullfog Films, 2007). He has an MFA from the University of Minnesota and lives in San Francisco.

Sasha Archibald is Associate Editor of Places. Based in Portland, Oregon, she is a Contributing Editor to The Public Domain Review, and an Editor-at-Large for Cabinet. She teaches critical studies at Pacific Northwest College of Art.

Jericho Rajninger is Public Engagement Editor of Places. He has written opinion pieces as an editor for The Daily Californian, produced radio shows with KQED Forum, and written literary criticism interrogating moments of rupture, freedom, and displacement in human life and history. He holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, where he received the honors thesis award from the English department.
