We’re thrilled to welcome the Department of Architecture at Monash University and the College of Built Environments at University of Washington into Places’ academic partner network.

We were saddened to learn of the death of Donlyn Lyndon, an influential architect and cofounder of Places. Harrison Fraker, who knew Donlyn well as a colleague and friend, shared with us his recollections.

Blending sound studies, geography, and urbanism, Myers’ essay and lecture will focus on the spatial politics of urban listening.

The collection of books, curated by Places, as featured in the U.S. Pavilion at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale.

We hope with this collection of books to reinforce the importance of threshold locations where private shades into public, and “I” becomes “we.”

Opening in Chicago this weekend, the Museum will feature an inaugural installation by Susanne Schindler and Chris Moyer, based on their Places essay.

We are now accepting applications for the 2025 SAH | Places | Graham Foundation Prize on Race and the Built Environment. Applications are due April 28, 2025.

Tracey’s project will focus on the Sanctuary Movement, and the entangled histories of immigration, colonization, and religion along the U.S./Mexico borderlands.
